Are Our Energy Supplies Dwindling?

Many speculators are saying that the earth’s energy supplies are dwindling. It is no surprise that people could feel this way. Much of the energy that we use are of non-renewable sources such as oil, gas, and coal. However, the place where most are mistaken comes to the idea of it getting near the point that we will all soon run out of energy entirely. As we speak, there are new oil fields being discovered in places that have not been tapped into quite yet. Beyond that, greater technology is allowing us to find supplies that otherwise would never have been found. This is not to include the other sources of energy that we are researching and developing to become of greater use. Although, at this time they are not quite as cheap or powerful as non-renewable energy sources, renewable sources are gaining ground they are not competitive enough for any energy supplier to take them up quite yet.
So why could so many people speculate that the energy sources are dwindling? Perhaps part of the reason is a lot of poor data being in existence. There has been a speculation that the world would run out of the prime energy sources for quite some time now, possibly to encourage public support of developing new ones. It has yet to happen despite all the predictions. In the 80’s they were speculating that in the 90’s we would not have any more oil. Obviously, this never happened. But that never stops the speculators from using computer models that don’t take new oil wells or other alternative fuel supplies into consideration.
